Solving Conflict: Technique #2

Posted by Orlando HOA Services

Be consistent. This is more a way to prevent conflict. When people know that they are not being singled out, they are more likely to cooperate.

Before I came to head up  my Homeowner Association board, we had very chaotic management. Decisions were made purely based on emotion and personal preference.  They responded to requests when they liked you, ignored or harassed you when they didn’t. As a result, no one had respect for the rules and few paid any attention to them. Board meetings were a nightmare.

When people don’t know what to expect, they don’t know how to respond. Whatever you do, whatever decisions you make, remember you are setting a precedent for all future actions. So plan and behave accordingly.
